The Brits are coming! (no need to hide the women and children)

Next up, The Peoples' Party welcomes the wonderful and eccentric British Sea Power to our shores.

You never know quite what to expect from British Sea Power... Except that they rule.
Songs about ornithology, Polish plumbers, floods on Canvey Island, nudists, Slavia Prague FC and oh so much more have graced three albums to date (with their forth LP - a soundtrack to the re-released 1934 film ‘Man Of Aran’ released earlier this year). 2008’s ‘Do You Like Rock Music?’ was an album of the year making the prestigious Mercury Music Prize shortlist along with Elbow, Radiohead and The Last Shadow Puppets. Sweet.

Famed for their visceral live shows (think foliage, stuffed owls, dancing bears and effervescent energy) they've toured and been commended by the likes of Radiohead, David Bowie, The Flaming Lips and The Killers. They’ve played everywhere from by the sea on the Sicily Isles to underground in a Cornish slate mine - from the largest festivals in the world to the Chelsea Flower Show. We are pleased as punch to be able to welcome them to our fantastic island home, for an unforgettable night in Hong Kong.

But don't just take our word for it:

“The best band in Britain.” exclaimed The Sunday Times, stamping their feet and walking around in circles.

“Stadium-sized melodies and exquisite songwriting” guffawed MOJO, writing imaginary pen lines in the air

“Out of this world… breathes with originality, poise and grace.” slam-danced the NME

“A triumphant lesson in sweeping toward the mainstream with your imagination and mystery intact.” spewed the Guardian, almost choking on their tea and biscuits.

Oh and they were also voted Time Out Live Band Of The Year 2004

Snap!

Local post-punk kings The Yours will provide ample support, and tickets are available at Grappas Cellar and White Noise Records now.
